In this regard, Robi Voigt’s superbly crafted videos are in a class of their own. With defiant candor, they openly acknowledge their seductively manipulative intent by skillfully targeting clichés embedded in the collective subconscious.

Der Freischütz
Alptraum für Deutschland
Carl Maria von Weber
Libretto von Friedrich Kind
Mit Texten von Lothar Kittstein
The Bonn production of Der Freischütz depicts a political nightmare that threatens to become reality today: the unstoppable rise of a far-right party in a “society of fear.” Everything is going according to Samiel’s plan—the goal: a seizure of power and the destruction of liberal democracy. The setting for this “nightmare for Germany” is the abandoned Bundestag in Bonn, the heart of democracy as a lost place.
